Mold Facts & News Articles

Existing Homes

A major manufacturer of Gyp board has estimated that 70% of all homes in the U.S. has mold in the wall cavities.

What is a homeowner to do when he suspects or finds mold in his house?

The answer is to utilize the mold abatement services and protocols as developed by Mold Solutions, Inc. and apply Bac-Shield as a mold preventative or remediate and apply Bac-Shield as a mold preventative.

It is more than likely with an interior mold infestation that spores have been circulated throughout by HVAC. Since Bac-Shield was originally developed as an antimicrobial for the textile industry, Bac-Shield should be applied to all surfaces in the home – not just remediated or sanitized surfaces. The delivery system is by fogging and misting. With this treatment Bac-Shield will prevent the growth of microorganisms which cause mold/mildew and odor.

Another amazing trait of Bac-Shield is that once applied to surfaces, those surfaces can be cleaned with normal cleaning procedures and not compromise the efficacy of Bac-Shield.

If the mold problem exists in the crawl space or attic, Mold Solutions, Inc. has the capability to remove the mold with the latest, best technology – dry ice blasting. It is not always necessary to cut out joists and sub-flooring with visible mold present. Wire brush cleaning for light mold, dry ice blasting for heavier mold and an application of Bac-Shield is all that is necessary in many cases.

A definition of sanitization and remediation follows:

Sanitization is the reduction of microbial population on an inanimate object to levels judged safe by public health standards usually by using a biocide.

Remediation is the act of removing damaged construction materials when said materials are irretrievable or non salvageable. Area must be contained before demolition for health purposes.

Remediation vs. Sanitization

  1. When visible mold exceeds 20 sq. ft., either cumulative or contiguous, viable or not.
  2. When visible mold is determined to be Stachybotrys either viable or not.
  3. When stachybotrys is found, any visible mold regardless of the variety or viability must also be remediated.
  4. When visible mold of any variety is present and viable and moisture readings at that spot exceed 17%.

Do you have either one of these conditions or anything in between?

Mold Solutions, Inc. can clean, apply Bac-Shield and provide a warranty against the future onset of mold. Sometimes there may be drastic degradation of materials. In those cases, some remediation may be required.

At Mold Solutions, Inc. our staff is charged with the responsibility to find the most expeditious, inexpensive protocol to solve the homeowner’s problem.

Mold Solutions, Inc. provides the one service lacking in other programs – an effective, long lasting mold preventative utilizing environmentally friendly “green” products.

Mold Solutions, Inc. is not in business to sell inspection, remediation and sanitization services. One or more facets may go into a complete project, but the goal is to provide protection against recurrence. Remember, sanitization and remediation is a partial answer to the problem.

Mold Solutions, Inc. and Bac-Shield are the missing part of any remediation and sanitization program – protecting new and cleaned surfaces.
